This is an unprecedented time in education. As you are already aware, schools are closed to in-person learning through Thursday, April 30, 2020. As each day passes, there is more information from federal and state sources indicating that schools maybe closed to in-person learning well beyond April 30th, if needed to mitigate the spread of the Corona Virus (COVID-19). Our greatest hope is for you, your child, and our staff to maintain good health during this time. Given this, our physical BOCES offices in Haxtun and Yuma are closed, however, all BOCES employees are working from their home office and are available by phone or email. The BOCES phone number is 970-521-2771 and your call will be answered by a receptionist during business hours. After hours, you can call and use the voicemail system to request the extension number of the employee you wish to reach. Our BOCES employee emails are available on the BOCES website at www.neboces.org
and then by clicking MENU and then STAFF. We are here to assist you and are open and fully functional in our online "virtual" environment.
Your child’s schoolis in the process of developing an alternative plan for general education instruction. It is our intent to provide special education and related services to your child,in a manner that is consistent with the alternative plan developed by your child’s school. This may include online learning, face-to-face video conferencing sessions, and/or learning materials being sent to your home. The specific interim plan for providing special education and related services will be communicated to you by your child’s special education teacher and his or her related service provider and will be based upon his or her unique learning needs. This interim plan will remain in effect during the period that schools are closed to in-person learning. When schools resume in-person learning, the special education and related services indicated in your child’s existing IEP will be provided without delay.
Professional development opportunities are listed on our website at www.neboces.org
. We are in the process of making arrangements to host many, or all of them, via webinar using our online "virtual" capabilities. We look forward to serving you. Let us know how we can help.
