Deaf and Hard of Hearing Field Trip Picture

On May 7, Tessa Heller, Northeast BOCES Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, took seven of her students  to the Denver Children’s Museum. The students ranged in age from 5-17 years old and represented six different BOCES member school districts - Haxtun, Holyoke, Julesburg, Revere, Wray, and  Yuma.  Each year, this field trip provides an opportunity for students with hearing loss to spend time with like peers.  The older students are excellent mentors and role models for the younger students.  New friendships are created and past friendships are strengthened. They always look forward to next year’s field trip!

A special thank you goes to Revere School District (driver Kelly Squier) for providing transportation and to Deb Dickerson and Callie Dickerson for volunteering their time to help support the students on this trip. We could not have participated in this memorable experience without them!
