STAR Comprehensive Workshop

Two-day workshop on Thursday, August 11 and Friday, August 12, 2022

9:00AM to 3:00 PM both days.

In-Person at the Haxtun Community Center; 125 E Wilson St, Haxtun, CO 80731. 

Training facilitated by Carolyn Foster

 

This comprehensive two-day workshop provides participants with detailed examples and practice activities on how to implement the evidence-based practices identified in the National Standards Report (2009).  The research-based STAR Program (Arick, Loos, Falco and Krug, 2015) is used to provide examples.  Appropriate content connected to the common core curriculum is presented and detailed information on the three evidenced-based instructional routines are shared.  Participants will learn how to implement these strategies through structured lesson plans and a curriculum scope and sequence.  The workshop will include extensive data collection systems and participants will learn to collect and use data for instructional decision making.

·        The course is designed for individuals who are teachers, specialized service providers and preschool workers.

·        The course prepares participants to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants and children under the age of 12.

·        Participants will also learn how to perform CPR and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults. 

·        First aid skills for treating a variety of injuries will be addressed.

·        The first aid certificate and the CPR certificate are valid for two years.  

·        THIS COURSE CAN BE OFFERED FOR CREDIT AS HWE 103 Community First Aid and CPR for 1 credit.


The total cost for the course is $70.00.

Northeast BOCES will pay this fee for all NortheastBOCES employees.

NEW Special Education Teacher/NEW Special Education BOCES Training
  • This training is imperative for all NEW special education teachers in the districts and for all NEW special education BOCES staff.  Topics covered will include: the Special Education Handbook (with all necessary forms for IEP Staffings, etc); access and orientation to Frontline Enrich (the web-based system used for all IEP record-keeping, etc); and a wealth of Tips and Tricks for what to do and not do throughout the year in your Special Education role. If you are new to your district / BOCES in a certified special education role, PLEASE register and plan to attend!
